Literacy Network is pleased to announce it is now accredited by the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance. It joins just 15 other Wisconsin charities in successfully completing this rigorous evaluation process.
The Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance has been evaluating charities for over 100 years. Its accreditation process seeks to verify charities’ accountability and trustworthiness through a review of 20 standards. These standards fall under four areas of accountability:
- Governance
- Results Reporting
- Finances
- Truthful Transparent Communications
Nonprofits must meet each of the 20 standards to achieve accreditation.
Literacy Network helps adults in Dane County build skills, reach goals, and connect communities. By participating in Literacy Network’s classes and personal tutoring program, each year nearly a thousand adult learners work towards improved literacy to be able to achieve their dreams.
“We hold ourselves to the highest standards so that our learners receive the best possible support and our donors can feel confident their gifts are put to good use,” says Executive Director Jeff Burkhart. “We are pleased to be able to share our accreditation as another indicator of the quality of our work.”
