Before he could finish high school in Mexico, José Luis de Hilario started working. He has lived in the U.S. for more than ten years. He first found Literacy Network because he had the goal of improving his spoken and written English to communicate better with his co-workers.
While attending classes, he learned about Literacy Network’s citizenship program and started attending classes and getting personal tutoring to prepare for the naturalization interview.
This summer, he passed the test and will become a U.S. citizen officially this fall with an oath ceremony!
Because of you, many doors will open for José Luis. One day he would like to become an accountant so he can better support his family. Congratulations on achieving this major goal, José Luis!
