2025 has been a challenging year in many ways. One bright spot at Literacy Network has been our record-breaking number of new citizens.
65 Literacy Network students have passed their tests to become U.S. citizens so far this year (and more students take their tests this week!).
Tuesday, December 2, is GivingTuesday.
We’re dedicating this international day of giving to this bright spot, focusing on students’ joy in achieving their citizenship dreams!
Help Us Meet Record Demand!
This GivingTuesday, help us raise $10,000 to fund one citizenship class for an entire year. Our numbers are record high, and so is the need!
- The number of lawful permanent residents eligible for citizenship is growing (13,000 in the Madison area in 2025, up 18% from two years ago!)
- Instability in federal immigration policies makes it urgent for many to secure the rights of citizenship now
- Our $90,000 annual federal citizenship grant was terminated in March and more is at risk in 2026
- Recent updates to the citizenship test make it more challenging. More students need the support of classes.
