Building Community Partnerships

Workplace literacy class

Working collaboratively with others accomplishes shared missions. Over the years, Literacy Network has partnered with many community organizations and businesses throughout Dane County to offer English classes where students and their families live and work, including*:

  • Madison Public Library branches and South Central Library System public libraries in Fitchburg, Middleton, Verona, and Waunakee.
  • Over 11 Madison public schools (MMSD elementary, middle, and high schools, and Nuestro Mundo Community School) and school districts in Marshall, Middleton-Cross Plains, Monona Grove, Sun Prairie, and Verona.
  • Workplace partners from more than 20 area business since the 1980s including Oscar Mayer, Wisconsin Cheeseman, University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics, King Pharmaceuticals, Springs Window Fashions, DoubleTree Hotel, NCG Hospitality, Future Foam, Dane Manufacturing, ETC, and The Edgewater Hotel.
  • Community centers: Allied Family Center Boys & Girls Club, Bayview Community Center, East Madison Community Center, Goodman Community Center, Kennedy Heights Community Center, Lussier Community Education Center, Madison Senior Center, NewBridge Madison, The Neighborhood House, Vera Court Neighborhood Center.

In addition, Literacy Network has worked, and continues to partner, with many nonprofit organizations* including Altrusa Club of Madison, the Catholic Multicultural Center, Centro Hispano, Jewish Social Services, Just Dane, Latino Academy, Madison College, Open Doors for Refugees, Urban League, Wisconsin Literacy, and the YWCA and has been a proud partner of United Way of Dane County since 1979.
