Busking for Books: 1:00-3:00pm Saturday, April 26
Busking for Books is an annual event in which musicians and performers from the Madison area perform on every corner of State Street to support adult literacy in Dane County.
Each busker will have at least one volunteer handing out information about Literacy Network. "People will walk by, see all this music and wonder what's going on," says Executive Director Jeff Burkhart. "We'll have people there to say, 'Here's what we're doing.'"

BUSKING FOR BOOKS
SATURDAY, APRIL 26
1:00 - 3:00 pm
Throughout State Street -- from the Square to Library Mall!
Local musicians & artists will be performing on sidewalks in 25+ locations throughout State Street to raise funds for Literacy Network. Busking for Books is about raising awareness, friends and funds for adult literacy programs while highlighting Madison's rich performing arts community. (This event is scheduled to coincide with the first outdoor Dane County Farmer's Market on the Square, which draws hundreds of visitors to the State Street area.) Buskers will be asked to perform for two hours or split their corner with another busker, each playing an hour.
ALL MUSICIANS HAVE BEEN RECRUITED AND BUSKING SPOTS ARE FULL. Thank you to all buskers who have signed up!!
BUSKERS: This event is for all-acoustic music -- no amplification is allowed. Please remember to follow the City of Madison guidelines.
Are you friendly, outgoing, and enthusiastic? Non-musical volunteers are needed to act as Literacy Network ambassadors during this event! One or two volunteers will be assigned to each corner with a busker, to answer questions about the event and hand out flyers to interested passerby. This is a great opportunity for friends or families to spend some time outside, meet new people, and help educate folks about the importance of adult literacy. (Training/materials will be provided.)
Submit your information below and Literacy Network staff will follow up with you within a few days. Thanks for your interest in getting involved in this exciting project!
