Proceeds from this and other events during the 6th Annual Literacy 24/7 benefit Literacy Network's adult literacy programs throughout Dane County. Other events include:

A Day in the Country, a musical fundraiser at the High Noon Saloon 1-6pm on Sunday, February 27, featuring Bill and Bobbie Malone and some of Madison's finest country and folk musicians.

Kevin Henkes New Book "Little White Rabbit" Release (location TBA) 1:00pm on Sunday, March 6, which will include a reading, signing and other fun things.

Online Pledge Drive to celebrate National Reading Month, Literacy Network invites everyone in the community to sign up as an individual or team to collect pledges during the month of March, based on the number of hours or books read. Prizes will be awarded to those individuals and teams with the most pledges.

Literacy 24/7 gives children and adults an opportunity to celebrate reading, promote literacy, and to give back to the community by asking others to pledge their support for people who struggle with reading. All proceeds support Literacy Network, a local non-profit in its 37th year of community education in Dane County.

More than 17,000 adults in Dane County lack the functional literacy skills needed to read a letter from their children's teachers, a label in a grocery store, or instructions from a doctor. Improved literacy can lead to financial independence, good health and greater involvement in the community. Literacy Network programs also give learners more than improved literacy skills -they offer the chance for a learner to gain confidence, awaken their imagination, and improve their connection to the world around them. Learn more about Literacy Network's learners here.

Literacy Network is a team of teachers, learners, tutors, volunteers and donors all working together to improve adult literacy in Dane County. Programs teach reading, writing and speaking skills to Dane County adults and families. Learners have access to Literacy Network classes, personal tutors, a computer lab and a learning library -all free of charge.
